Migration balloons by 80,000 above expectations, adding to housing pressures

Australia's migrant population will rise above the government's expectations by 80,000 people over this financial year, adding to pressure on Australia's housing and rental markets.

The mid-year budget update has revealed net overseas migration will grow this financial year by 340,000, well above the 260,000 the government had expected.
